Well A-17

Client Situation

During evaluation of Well A-17 (TD: 3,250 m), logs confirmed an excellent pay zone (3,200–3,250 m) with:
Porosity: 25%
Hydrocarbon Saturation: 80%
Resistivity: 15 ohm-m

However, the Cement Bond Log (CBL) showed poor bonding (Bond Index 0.3) across this same interval → high risk of gas migration and loss of isolation.

Intervention

BJ designed and executed a remedial cement squeeze to restore zonal isolation:

Tailored slurry: Class G cement + silica flour + fluid loss & gas control additives.
Placement technique: Sectional squeeze with mechanical packer.
Verification: Repeat CBL showed Bond Index >0.8.
Follow-up: Selective perforation (3,200–3,250 m) and acid stimulation to enhance permeability.

Results Achieved

Cement integrity restored across pay zone.

Initial production: ~1,650 BOPD, GOR 340 scf/bbl, water cut <5%.

No evidence of channeling or behind-casing flow after 3 months.
